Aerospace and Defense

The State of Georgia is home to more than 600,000 veterans, a dozen U.S. military bases, and the world’s busiest airport – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone is proud to support the work of the aerospace and defense industry in our state, which helps to keep Georgians moving and equip servicemen and women with the tools and technology to succeed in their missions. Castle Metals Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney are able to support the production of aerospace and defense-related products at lower costs thanks to the benefits realized through the U.S. foreign-trade zone program and by working with Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone.

Consumer Goods

With consumer spending driving 70 percent of the U.S. economy, it’s no wonder that the U.S. foreign-trade zone program is set up to support companies that trade in consumer goods. Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone works closely with major brand names including Mizuno and Carter’s to deliver merchandise to consumers nationwide in the most cost-efficient way possible. Every year, more than three-quarters of a billion dollars worth of consumer goods move through businesses working with Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone, and all of it is touched by the financial and supply chain benefits of the U.S. foreign-trade zone program.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing is at the heart of the U.S. foreign-trade zone program, and many of the program’s benefits are designed to keep American factories busy building the products we buy, right here at home. Today, manufacturers working with Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone employ more than 9,000 workers in their operations and receive more than $2.5 billion of merchandise annually under the umbrella of the program. Iconic brands like Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation and Eastman Kodak work closely with Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone, as does Roper Corporation – a subsidiary of GE Appliances – Ricoh Electronics, and Kubota North America Corporation.

Petrochemical

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is consistently ranked as the busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic. More than 100 million passengers travel through Atlanta every year. And many are taking off on flights powered by fuel that was stored by a company using the U.S. foreign-trade zone program. Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone supports fueling operations at Hartsfield-Jackson by providing access to the program’s duty deferral and duty elimination benefits. Billions of dollars’ worth of fuel makes its way through Atlanta with support from GFTZ.

Pharmaceutical

Georgia’s pharmaceutical industry helps to keep people healthy, and GFTZ is proud to work with Janssen Pharmaceuticals. At its Georgia facility, the company uses imported ingredients to manufacture medications used throughout the United States. Doing so involves further processing the material, packaging, warehousing, and shipping. All along the way, their participation in the U.S. foreign-trade zone program reduces the cost of producing drugs through duty deferral and reduction benefits.
