Foreign-Trade Zones Board Releases 2012 Annual Report to Congress
The U.S. Foreign-Trade Zones (FTZ) Board recently released its 2012 Annual Report to Congress. The report shows record numbers in key areas of the FTZ program:
- Exports from foreign-trade zones are up 29 percent from 2011.
- Merchandise received has exceeded its peak of 2008, reaching a record high of $732.2.
- The number of companies using the zones program jumped to 3,200, an increase of 400 from the year before.
- Employment in foreign-trade zones increased by almost 9 percent from 2011.
